Robert Hilles

Robert Hilles lives half the year on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia and half the year in Khon Kaen Thailand. He won the Governor General’s Award for Poetry for Cantos From A Small Room and the George Bugnet Award for Raising of Voices, his first book published by Black Moss Press.

His second novel, A Gradual Ruin, was published by Doubleday Canada. His writing has been published in magazines in North America and abroad. He has published more than 20 books including sixteen books of poetry, two novels, one short story collection and two books of non-fiction. Eleven of his books have been published by Black Moss Press. His books have also been shortlisted for The Milton Acorn People’s Poetry Prize, The W.O. Mitchell/City of Calgary Prize, The Stephan Stephansson Award, and The Howard O’Hagan Award.
