Eva Kolacz brings us today’s feature poem, from Fire and Water a collection of love poems and drawings. The collection acts as a series of love poems written between Eva and her husband Laurence Hutchman. “At the End of Summer” is a piece that reminds us of quiet moments in nature shared between two people in love.
At the End of Summer
As hot as it had been lately
summer is slowing.
Edged with the early arrival of evening,
dimmer lights of sky
hanging between branches,
the smell of ripened fruits fermented
in long grass attracting concerts
of crickets looking for flame
with a hunger for sex.
It all catches us alone, breeds more thoughts,
deeper nights, each one inside another.
Imagine how many times I’ve come here
shedding my skin, leaving a trace.
