Greetings lovers of literature and purveyors of poetry, my name is Alicia Labbe and I will be replacing Meghan Desjardins as Black Moss Press’s publishing assistant. Congratulations are also in order as Meghan has gone on to work for Biblioasis, though we will miss her greatly. I received my bachelors from the University of Windsor before I went on to complete the Creative Book Publishing Program at Humber College in Toronto. I’ve done internships with Biblioasis, Random House and Scanner Press, as well as several freelance editing projects. I look forward to working with Marty Gervais and I hope to meet many of you at readings and book launches. My contact information has been added to the website and you are more than welcome to contact me with any questions regarding the press and its writers.
On October 1st we will be welcoming Nova Scotia poet Chad Norman to Windsor for a reading. Joining him that evening will be Peter Hrastovec, Mary Ann Mulhern and Vanessa Shields. Peter Hrastovec is the author of Sidelines and In Lieu of Flowers, born and raised in Windsor he works as a lawyer by day and a poet by night. Mary Ann Mulhern’s The Red Dress details her life in a convent in the 60s and was received with national acclaim. Vanessa Shields authored I Am That Woman, edited the anthology Whisky Sour City and created Poetry on Demand, a website where poetry is written on demand for the public with their help in the process.
